Contemporary Cravats, founded in 2006 by Genevieve Browne is an exciting company specialising in digitally printed cravats. The cravats are made from soft silk crepe satin, a matt fabric reminiscent of cashmere to the touch yet thin, light and cool as silk. Designed, printed, tailored and packaged in England, Contemporary Cravats supports fair wages for quality and skills. Genevieve is an avid painter and her passion for textiles has blossomed from the concept of visual art with an aesthetic and intimate relationship to the viewer and wearer. Genevieve has always been strongly influenced by the brave colours and striking imagery found in traditional textiles of East Asia and Africa but more recently has drawn from the 1921 watercolour book of English flowers by her Grandfather, Louis Browne.
